Bournemouth Internet Radio Station

Holly Fisher

From a young age I always dreamed of becoming a mermaid. However, things don’t always go to plan and now I’ve swapped ocean waves for those of the radio variety (although it should be noted that now I live by the sea there is plenty more chance for my former dreams to come true).

I come from a little town called St Neots in Cambridgeshire where I live in a house on the river with my lovely family and a lorry-load of pets. I spent three years studying my BA in music and popular music at the University of Liverpool…a wonderful city that I very much fell in love with! Whilst I was there, I had a short stint of being a promoter with my friend Laura (barmy but lovable!) and organised a few small gigs of beautiful music from around the country.

My main passion is music and that is what drove me in to radio in the first place. In my final year of my BA, I began a music-based radio show on Icon Radio with my flatmate Yaz (she’s very, very small and very, very nice).  We won Best Radio Show 2009 in the Icon Radio Awards and that’s when I realised that this was something I wanted to do a lot more of. So that is how I got to here, Bournemouth University, studying for my MA in Radio Production. Everyone here is just wonderful and I am enjoying myself a lot!

The Poole Arms: A Traditional English Pub

Step inside the Poole Arms, an iconic green pub set on Poole Quayside run by Bob and Maureen Kerr. It is also the oldest building on the Quay, built in 1635.
