Tom Eames

Thomas Owen Eames was born in the virtually unknown yet awesome village of Corfe Mullen , Dorset, in April 1986. When he was about 4 years old he was given a kids’ blue and red cassette recorder, and basically hasn’t looked back since.

He studied at Winchester University, graduating with a degree in Media and American Studies. Even though it was always in the back of his mind, it was here that he realised that he wanted to be involved in the world of radio. In the past he has produced his own podcasts, presented shows at small radio stations, and was the resident DJ for Winchester Uni in his last year there.

He has always been obsessed with anything remotely related to pop culture, whether it be music, film, TV, radio, sport, news etc. He has ‘released’ several ‘mash-up’ albums on the Net. He also loves Man United, and if you know him well it isn’t normally too long before he mentions his adoration for Gary Numan. He is also a fan of tennis, gaming, Red Bull, Red Dwarf and Robbie Williams.

He apparently looks like a mix between Matt Damon, Gary Barlow and Daniel Bedingfield.

Favourite Movie: Gregory’s Girl
Favourite TV Show: Lost or Red Dwarf
Favourite Album: Super Furry Animals – Rings Around the World
Favourite Song: Gary Numan – Cars

Times Like These is the comedy panel quiz testing the team's knowledge of popular culture over the decades.

This episode we look back at childhood toys & cartoons in "Growing Pains", trawl through celebrity oddities in "Celebrity Landfill" & pay attention to old public service announcements in "Safety First". Only to find some of the panel's toys were hugely inappropriate, the current political landscape is a remake of Star Wars & the dinosaurs may have been wiped out by pornographic magazines.

Mog McIntyre keeps an eye on our feuding panellists with 80/90's Team Captain Tom Eames joined by Sophie Petzal, writer & actor for numerous productions including comedy sketch show The Unprofessionals & darkly comic play Cause Celebre. Joining 60's/70's team captain Mathew Priest is BIRSt's very own Programme Controller & Rock Climber Christopher Brooke.
