In 1972, against the wishes of local people, British Rail took just seven weeks to lift the seven miles of track that made the Swanage branch line, having closed it six months earlier. It has taken an extraordinary group of local volunteers and railway enthusiasts thirty years to relay that track which now serves as a major tourist attraction running historic stream strains between Swanage and Norden.
