Andy Causton

My name is Andy Causton and I have been an avid radio listener since aged six. My ambition is to present and produce music-based programmes such as chart shows, documentaries and quiz shows. I regularly listen to ‘America’s Greatest Hits’, Radio 2 documentaries and various feature programmes on BBC 6Music.

I have previously presented half-hour music shows for VIP on Air, now Insight Radio, as well as a weekly two-hour show on Air3 1350, at Stirling University. On Air3 1350 I used an analogue mixing desk. I was responsible for fading up tracks and received assistance with queuing up tracks, because of my visual impairment.

My hobbies include, reading, listening to music, cinema and outdoor activities such as kayaking and abseiling.

From A to B

This three-minute piece takes us on a journey in more ways than one. Not only is it the journey from where I live down to the local Chinese takeaway, but also a metaphorical journey, exploring how someone who is visually impaired gets from a to b, finding their way through listening to the surrounding environment and searching for landmarks identified from previous journeys to the place of interest.
