Bournemouth University takes first UK delivery of SADiE 6 software

Cambridge, UK: Bournemouth University has become the first SADiE customer in the UK to take delivery of the new SADiE 6 audio editing and production software.

Peter Nash, Prism Sound and SADiE’s Broadcast Consultant, personally delivered the first five UK licences when he attended the Sounding Out creative radio conference, which took place at the University from September 7th – 10th 2010.

Professor Sean Street, Director of the Centre for Broadcasting History Research at Bournemouth University’s Media School, says: “From very early on we have wanted to give our MA in Radio Production students the closest possible representation of the real world conditions they will find when they enter the job market. As a former BBC employee, I was familiar with SADiE which I had used on many occasions, particularly for the production of feature material. I could see that SADiE was a growing technology and therefore one that it was important for our students to learn.

Sounding Off – Listen Up

Two days of conference and already inspiration levels are high and vibrant discussions have taken place in panels, we have been enouraged to explore realms of sound in many directions by our keynotes and of course the Atrium, cafes and installations have been immersive spaces for for further links and making new friends.

We are inviting all our new Sounding Out Friends to link in to the blog and enjoy a further dimension, links mentioned in passing or in papers. This we hope will provide a scrapbook not only of the event but the continued aural journey as we return back to our own work.

If you need to upload any content that you would like an audience to listen to then please contact Jo Tyler at Bournemouth University.

Please note that any collaborative or broadcast links and work will need relevant permissions for inclusion.

Bournemouth University was awash with respected names from the world of sound as it hosted the fifth international Sounding Out conference.

Keynote speakers covered a range of topics from radio production to electro-composition, alongside an exhibition of sound and the SADiE 6 software launch.

Professor Sean Street, who organised the conference with Dr Alain Renaud, said: “Most conferences have one keynote speaker. Sounding Out has six. The reason for that is the diversity of sound”. Sean continued: “We have Kaye Mortley, who gave a mesmeric keynote this morning about radio art, or the film that goes on behind the eyes”.
