I’m Alva. Originally from Nottingham, I studied German and Philosophy at Kings College London. Some of my favourite things are larking around in fields at festivals, cycling the streets of Berlin, having tea and biscuits with my friends, unexpected acts of kindness and laughing with my family.

As part of my degree I spent an amazing year studying Philosophy in Berlin, where I first realised the significance of radio and it’s hidden virtues. My interest in radio is varied, ranging from specialist music shows, community radio, documentary features to experimenting with sound. My motivation in applying for the MA in Radio Production at Bournemouth stems from hoping to acquire the skills to creatively explore my personal interests, such as philosophy, the arts, human rights and volunteer work, with the intention of making insightful and thought provoking radio. In light of the changes occurring in radio, the ways we listen, the breadth of new stations and interactivity, I think this is a really exciting time to build a career in the industry and develop new and innovative ideas.

I hope you enjoy my work.
