Jude Hodgson Hann – Biography

Born and raised around Brockwell Park in South East London Jude Hodgson Hann discovered a passion for audio at an early age. Beginning with audio books on tape the pivotal piece that continues to inspire him was the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. This cemented a love for audio storytelling and ignited his imagination as to the universes that sound can create. It was during the latter years of primary school that Jude had his first practical experience with radio, creating a short show for Morrissey’s Meltdown at the Royal Festival Hall in 2004. Unbeknownst to him this experience would eventually influence his decisions for future education and ultimately his career plan.

During secondary school Jude’s love of music began to grow starting with the Gorillaz and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers it began to grow though remaining stuck in rock and metal for a number of years. After attending Pimlico and Dunraven schools, he finished his secondary education at the Brit School of Performing Arts. It was there the decision was made to study Media as his specialist and where he discovered his passion for radio. Ultimately it was co-presenting the Rock Spectrum show that provided the drive to present and discover music with more than a little influence from the radio icon John Peel.

All of these factors culminated in attending Bournemouth University studying BA Radio. Here he was able to explore a wide variety of radio practices including interview techniques, editing skills, production and implicate them into projects throughout University. Some of these include Leo’s Last Stop Diner a sci-fi drama set in a 50’s style diner just outside the Milky Way and Conspiracies a documentary piece exploring Conspiracy Theories and the themes that surround them. And the rest is yet to come.
