Marconi in Poole

14th of June 2019 //  by Richard Queree

Back in February, the Marconi in Poole event celebrated the Haven Hotel in the Sandbanks, the place where Marconi did his first experiments in what is now known as Radio.

BIRSt Radio caught up with Professor Gabriele Balbi from the University of Lugano in Switzerland, a guest speaker at the event, to talk about Marconi’s initial hesitance to embrace the technology as a mass broadcasting tool.

We also spoke to Professor Hugh Chignell and other Bournemouth University staff as well as members of the Sandbanks Group to get their views on the Marconi lecture.
