Oliver West is a creative and hard working producer and a team worker, with lots of passion and great people skills. Has a ready to learn attitude, the ability to work within deadlines, working well under pressure within a variety of environments, has clear communication skills and advanced in getting ideas across.
He started his radio career off at Bournemouth University by enrolling in a course to achieve a BA Hons in Radio, where he was taught many key skills such as editing (which he is particularly proud of), presenting, producing, researching and learning about the industry. He was also taught to use key tools in the industry such as Enco, Adobe Audition, radio studios and how to use social media to advertise and promote your work.
While at Bournemouth University Oliver had experience as an assistant producer at Hope FM in Bournemouth for work placement, transitioning into a part time volunteer. Where he was able to use the tools and skills he learnt in a real work environment, while learning how to be a productive member of a radio station’s production team. He was also taught by staff at Hope FM how to use Myriad and how to input shows and adverts into the playout system.
After this Oliver aims to get a role in the industry of radio and hopefully develop his skills and career further, while also producing a podcast and other on the side pieces of audio Link to show reel here.
