On Pity and Crohn’s

22nd of May 2019 //  by Adam Aspinall

As it was World IBD day on the 19th May, Adam reflects on how Crohn’s disease affects him – particularly his love-hate relationship with food – but more importantly what Crohn’s disease even is.  The piece was initially inspired by the book Beware of Pity by Stefan Zweig. Adam attempts to explain why pity is so harmful for those it is directed towards – and why, it’s not a noble emotion, but is in fact, self-serving.
