The United Kingdom was due to leave the European Union on 29 March 2019. Sam planned to visit London that day to document the immediate aftermath of Brexit. However, a week before Brexit day, the Article 50 process was extended. When Sam arrived in Westminster, MPs had voted against the EU withdrawal agreement and hundreds of leave supporters were protesting outside Parliament.
Sam made this recording at 5pm on 29 March 2019. He was standing on Abington Street, next to the media camp in Abington Street Gardens.
