Lew Bradley looked through our 20 year archive to pick his favourite local interest pieces:
Bournemouth Pier (Holly Fisher, 2010)
Take a stroll on the pier and and learn about its history and artistic influences.
Bizarre Bournemouth: The Museum of Electricity (Dougal Patmore, 2010)
This feature contains a really interesting interview with the curator of the museum and some ‘cracking’ sounds. It’s particularly poignant now because the museum has sadly closed since it was recorded.
A Sense of Place in Bournemouth (Kieren Thomson and Olivia Beazley, 2016)
This piece is fascinating as it was recorded in Bournemouth’s Lower Gardens as part of the Bournemouth Emerging Arts Fringe Festival, and interweaves readings from the Bournemouth Song Book with interviews from local people about what it’s like to be part of the community here.
The Mementoes Reminiscence Project from The Borough of Poole Arts Service (Vicky O’Connell, 2017)
This features follows the participants in an arts project run by a Poole charity which supports older people and vulnerable people to live independently. It’s great to hear about the project and listen to the stories the people taking part share.
Poole Hill Brewery (Winnie Simon, 2019)
A lovely visit to Poole Hill Brewery (and pub) where we hear beer being made!
