BIRSt celebrates Alan Brown

1 August 2017 BIRSt News Home

Alan worked at Bournemouth University for 37 years, as technical support and then as demonstrator/tutor in radio. His love for the medium was apparent from the outset and he completed his MA Radio Production in 2008 with Professor Sean Street.

Alan has been the backbone of BIRSt from the beginning. He has managed the website, supporting 1000s of students in both Radio and Journalism to further careers. His patience, knowledge and passion for radio will be missed.  A tribute published in the Bournemouth Echo shares the thoughts of students and staff.

Hear Alan’s award winning piece ‘Walls Have Ears’  – the inspiration for many subsequent student awards.

Our thoughts are with his wife Mel and daughter Freya.

Should you wish to share and send memories or condolences you can do so via the memorial Facebook page or tweet @birstradio
